Marvel has just officially announced the new Nightcrawler series I’ll be drawing and it is written by legendary X-Men writer, Chris Claremont!
Claremont’s Uncanny X-Men #193 was the first issue that started me on my path to being a regular comic collector… And an X-Men fan! I grew up reading Chris Claremont’s X-Men (and X-Men related comics).
So now getting to draw one of my all-time favorites, Nightcrawler, on a monthly basis is a childhood dream come true!
I got the call from Marvel editor, Daniel Ketchum, offering me the series around the holidays. I’ve felt like a kid on Christmas morning ever since!
Here are some of my initial character studies I have been working on to getting an even better feel for these characters. I’ve been referencing my favorite Nightcrawler artists: Dave Cockrum, John Byrne, Paul Smith, Art Adams, Alan Davis, etc. as well was what my pal, Ed McGuinness, has been doing with Nightcrawler in Amazing X-Men, to honor what has been done with the fuzzy blue elf as well as put my own flavor on it.
Stay tuned and subscribe to the RSS feed for more sketches and info as we head towards our April 2014 launch date!
BAMF!!!
