The fake accounts are simply taking and reposting what I have posted on the Art of Todd Nauck Facebook page and pretending to be me. There is also a fake “San Diego Comic Con International Group”, https://www.facebook.com/groups/110121385508822, that is supposedly moderated by me. This is also not me.
I just found out one is soliciting people to draw commissions as me, taking a down payment, then not drawing the art. I have not and do not privately solicit people to draw commissions for them. I have a very specific studio/convention commission procedure strictly here on my site. My studio commission list has been closed for quite a while now and will not reopen anytime too soon. When I do reopen for studio commissions, I will announce it on all my official social media accounts including my site, toddnauck.com, with specific instructions.
I am in the process of trying to get FB to shutdown and delete these impersonating accounts. In the meantime, please do not purchase any art/commissions from these fake accounts asking if you want a piece of “Todd Nauck art” or a print. Please do not accept their friend requests or follow their accounts. It is NOT me.
My only public FB presence is the Art of Todd Nauck FB page. My personal FB page (that I’ve had since around 2009) is strictly for family, close personal friends, and industry colleagues. Anything else on FB claiming to be me is 100% fake.

From 1998-2003, I got to help launch a new series at DC Comics with the legendary comics writer, Peter David. We did a series called Young Justice. I have been a fan of his writing since I was a teenager and having the opportunity to work with him was a thrill and honor. He has not only been a friend but a supporter of my art. Peter was instrumental in opening doors for regular work at Marvel on his Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man series in 2006-2007. In 2021, we did an X-Men Legends story. That makes 71 comics Peter and I have done together so far! Having worked on so many comics together and seeing Peter and his family at many comic cons across the U. S., they are very special to Dawn and I.
Last year, Peter suffered a stroke and mild cardiac arrest. There is a GoFundMe page to raise money to cover his medical bills and care. The recovery has been slow going and the David family still can use our help! Amidst medical bills and care, they are also in need of a new roof on their house as winter is drawing near. Click HERE to make a donation of any amount!
I have drawn up this all-new, one-of-a-kind, original drawing of the 1998 Young Justice original 3 boys, Robin, Superboy, and Impulse on a Young Justice (Brian Michael Bendis era) sketch cover to auction on eBay to help raise some more money for Peter and his family. The proceeds (after applicable eBay and PayPal fees) from this auction will go to Peter’s GoFundMe account. This auction will end 10am Pacific Time on November 16, 2023. Click HERE to place a bid!

30 years ago, my first paid and published pro comic work debuted as the back cover of Marvel’s humor comic book, WHAT THE–?! issue #21. I was still a student at the Art Institute of Dallas. It was my first assignment after a good number of portfolio reviews at the Dallas comic cons I attended back then.
Todd Nauck 1992 and WHAT THE–?! #21 cover, back cover, and info.
At that time, Marvel would have a table with creators and editors at the Dallas Fantasy Fairs every March, July, and November. Marvel editor, Renee Witterstaetter, attended most of those then. So she got to see my portfolio each convention. She was gracious to give me a critique and encouragement at each convention. It was the Spring 1992 Dallas Fantasy Fair where Renee saw something special in my work (I guess I’d leveled up just enough to take a shot on) and said she’d buy a one page gag from me to run in the comic she was editing, “WHAT THE–?!” . (A comic book I was already reading and a big fan of! I still have the entire run of that series.)
She gave me her card and asked me to mail her some concept gags/sketches. I was pumped with anticipation and excitement! I rushed home and started putting together some ideas. Sent them off a few days later. A week later, Renee called me to say she liked these two X-Men gags and to put them together on one page. Hence, I created the comic strip, “Mutant Mishaps” (which ran again in issue #25).
The ACTUAL original art for my back cover of WHAT THE–?! #21.
I have since gotten to reconnect with Renee and let her know that she gave me my first professional comic book work and thank her for the opportunity. It’s kinda cool to have my first paid and published comic book work be at Marvel.
This is the original art from WHAT THE–?! #21 (I’d thought I lost!) It’s a bit worse for the wear but a priceless memento of my first step as a professional comic book artist. It would still be another year and a half before I’d break into comics doing it full time. But THAT is a story for another day.
Tony, Rachelle, myself, and Dawn at Chicago’s C2E2 comic convention, March 2019
My dear friends, Tony and Rachelle Atkinson, are in need of help. Rachelle is my regular colorist for the comics and covers I draw at Marvel. If you’ve enjoyed any of my comics at Marvel from the 2014 Nightcrawler series to present day, most likely, you’ve seen Rachelle’s color art over my line art. She is a wonderful collaborator. Rachelle and Tony are kind, loyal and generous friends. My wife, Dawn and I are often table neighbors next to Rachelle and Tony at comic cons like Emerald City Comic Con, C2E2, and New York Comic Con. We have become very good friends over the years.
Tony was taken to the hospital by ambulance yesterday due to heart and kidney failure. They are incurring medical debt and can use our help. If you have the means and would like to donate directly to their GoFundMe account, CLICK HERE to make a donation.
From Ton’y GoFundMe page.
I am auctioning off this original Jean Grey piece to help raise money for them. (Jean Grey is Rachelle’s favorite comic book character.) PleaseCLICK HEREto visit my eBay listing if you are interested in placing a bid and helping them out.
Thank you for your support, good thoughts, and prayers for Tony, Rachelle, and their three kids. -Todd

My Todd Nauck “Stay At Home Con” Wave 3 Commission list is CURRENTLY CLOSED! A LOT of emails have come in right away and I had to close off the Wave 3 list immediately. I will be responding to emailed requests very soon and will take on as many of these as I can. If you got a request in, I will email you as soon as I can. I will do my best accommodate as many of these requests as I can over the next many weeks. But spots ARE limited. Stay tuned to my site for updates. And if you were not able to submit a request this round, please keep an eye out for possible future waves of my “Stay At Home Con” commissions!
Thank you so much for your interest in and support for my art! Todd
Hi, everyone! I’ve finished my previous round of “Stay At Home Con” commissions, amidst my work on my official studio commission list. I am opening up a THIRD WAVE of limited time “Todd Nauck Stay At Home Con” commissions on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 12pm Pacific/3pm Eastern.
I am NOT taking “Stay At Home Con” email requests now! 🙂 Info on options and procedure on how to get on my “Todd Nauck Stay At Home Con” Commission list is listed below. The list will OFFICIALLY open with an ALL NEW post HERE on my front pageSaturday, September 12, 2020 at 12pm Pacific/3pm Eastern.
Please read on for some ALL-NEW info!!!
I know many of us have been maintaining our health, safety and wellness
during this COVID-19 season with staying at home and social distancing. A lot of our favorite comic conventions have been canceled or postponed.
Many of you are on my closed official studio commission list. I am moving through that list now. If you’ve been patiently waiting, your name may be nearing the top of that list! This list IS a top priority. But there is downtime between emailing the clients currently on that official list, processing payment, drawing the commission and getting things going with the next clients.
NEW INFO! I am opening this list for U.S. requests and I plan to take FIVE (5) international requests. COVID-19 has made international shipping a bit more challenging. I know many international people have been patiently waiting for an opportunity to get a “Stay At Home Con”commission from me. So I am gonna try five international requests. If that goes well, I’ll see if I can take some more. (either on a future wave or possibly even this one.) 😀
Here’s how it will work:
PLEASE READ ALL BULLET POINTS CAREFULLY! 1. I will open up for some pre-con style studio commissions. Options and prices listed below. On Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 12pm Pacific/3pm Eastern, I will post a new announcement HERE on my site stating the “Todd Nauck Stay At Home Con Commission” list is “now OPEN” with very specific info I need to collate my list. 2. There will be a CODE WORD in the post’s subject heading AND in a bold RED BOX in the body of the post. This word goes in the subject of YOUR email at that time. My email address will be mail@wildguard.com. 3. You will send me that email with all the required commission info in the body of your email:
Your first and last name.
Your complete and accurate shipping address
The type of commission you’re looking for (Options listed below).
The name of character (and specific costume/era) you would like for that commission. (If you are able, please include 1-3 low-res jpegs of that specific costume/era. Otherwise, costume/era may be selected by artist.)
At least 3 alternate characters (in case I am not able to fulfill your first character request.) Note: Certain actor/celebrity likenesses and possibly video game, anime, and certain movie/TV characters may be declined).
4. I will reply to as many Stay At Home Con commission requests as I can. THE LIST COULD CLOSE VERY FAST! If you receive a reply, you are on the list and we can make PayPal payment arrangements. Then I will draw and mail out your commissioned art! If you do not receive a reply, I may be maxed out for this window of “Stay At Home Con” commissions. Or I may take on a few more requests if I can complete the initial list and there is still time. 5. If this goes well, I may do another round of Stay At Home Con Commissions as soon as I can!
All commissions are single character! These pre-con style commissions are drawn on 9″x12″ smooth Strathmore Bristol board (or on 140lb cold press watercolor board for watercolor commissions). If you want yours on a sketch cover, we can discuss that possibility in your email request chain. That will depend on what blank sketch covers I have available or can access and would be an extra charge.
These are my current Pre-Con style commission options and rates. Limit ONE commission per person.
Half figure black and white on 9″x12″: $350
Half figure color: Copic markers or watercolor on 9″x12″: $450
Head shot black and white on 7″x10″: $100
Head shot color: Copic markers or watercolor on 7″x10″: $150
Half-and-Half characters (example: Spidey/Peter Parker) and movie costume versions of characters (example: MCU Captain America) will be extra charges depending on the particular character.
U.S. shipping/handling will be $10 for USPS Priority Mail for U.S. shipping. If you want to insure your shipment, that price will be calculated. International shipping/insurance/handling charges will be calculated depending on region. Please note: taxes, customs, and/or fees for your country may be applicable. Due to the COVID-19 situation, please consider some shipments and delivery could be delayed. *NOTE: Commission requests that require celebrity or actor likenesses (and possibly video game, anime, and certain movie/TV characters) may be declined. No personal or your creator-owned characters, please. *NOTE:The Copic Marker website says: “Dyes are artificial material made through chemical processes and are not usually as archival as pigment products. In general, dyes are susceptible to ultraviolet rays. Copic inks are a dye and Copic-colored images will fade under direct sunlight or fluorescent light. If your artwork with Copic will be put up in well-lighted area, it is better to seal it with a UV blocking seal.” https://copic.jp/en/support/f3-3/
To those that have been on my Official Studio Commission list, this is a separate opportunity, just like a comic con pre-con list. If you have been on that official list, you can still participate in this opportunity and still keep your spot on the official list if you’d like! Or use this opportunity to use your official list spot. Feel free to submit your request during “Stay At Home Con”! (I will be continuing to tackle my current official studio commission list during this time, and hope to reopen that official list for new clients in the future!)
See you here Saturday, September 12, 2020 at 12pm Pacific/3pm Eastern. My thanks for your interest in my commissioned art. 😀 Stay safe and well! Todd
